All in or Not at All

Growing up, Fabio Cancemi’s teachers never quite knew what to make of him.

In some subjects, he was untouchable. Science, math, biology, chemistry, physics — full marks, almost effortlessly.

Languages came just as naturally. Growing up in Italy, his first language was Italian. He started learning English and French at five years old, and by the time he got to college in California, he picked up Spanish just because everyone around him was speaking it.

Four languages and a brain that seemed to absorb anything it found interesting. The things he didn’t find interesting, on the other hand? Forget it.
When Fabio found something that interested him, he went all in.

When he didn’t, he gave it the bare minimum to pass and moved on. That was just how his brain worked.

It wasn't inconsistency, but obsession.

His parents would hear from multiple teachers in the same term: one absolutely raving, another with the exact opposite feedback.

“If something gets forced on me, my brain just does the opposite,” Fabio says. “It's kind of petty in a way, but it's just how I am.”

By the time he finished his master's in marketing communications and stepped into his first ecommerce role, the obsession had found its permanent home.

Digital marketing, it turned out, was everything Fabio had ever wanted from a subject. It had the logic of science, the puzzle-solving of engineering, and an endless supply of “whys” to chase. “I’m a geek, so digital has interested me from day one,” Fabio admits. “It was like having loads of puzzle pieces. Once you put them together, you’re just like, ‘Oh wow. I get the whole thing.’”

He started learning the channels one by one — PPC, paid social, organic social, SEO, CRO, CRM — not because anyone told him to, but because he couldn’t stop himself. Each channel was a new piece of the puzzle, and the more pieces he picked up, the more he could see how they fit together.

mini QUIZ – 01 / 03

How connected are your marketing channels, really?

Siloed
Somewhat linked
One coherent story

But seeing how they fit together was only half the picture

The other half was data. Because once you can tell the story, you need to know if anyone’s listening, and whether what you’re doing is actually working. Data became the way Fabio measured everything, questioned everything, and decided what to do next.

That’s where Loomi came in. At Never Fully Dressed — a bold, London-based womenswear brand with a team of five covering everything from website management to CRM to creative — running lean is the only option. Loomi makes it possible to also run fast. Questions that once would have required days of analysis now get answered in minutes.

mini QUIZ – 02 / 03

How much of your marketing is guesswork versus proof?

Mostly guesswork
A healthy mix
Backed by data every time

“We literally just come up with the most random questions and ask the Bloomreach team, ‘Can you help us with this?’” Fabio says. “And usually the answer is yes.”

The channels that Fabio spent so much time learning individually are now connected through a single platform, feeding into each other, telling one coherent story, and generating the data to keep improving it.

It’s the same loop that Fabio has always run. Find something worth obsessing over and learn everything about it. Full marks, or nothing at all.

mini QUIZ – 03 / 03

When you reach out to your marketing technology's support team, how fast do you get a confident answer?

Days, if ever
